The State Department condemned recent Israeli strikes in Syria, and Secretary Marco Rubio announced a U.S.-brokered agreement between Israel and Syria to end immediate violence.

Syria's government misread how Israel would respond to its troops deploying to the country's south this week, encouraged by U.S. messaging that Syria should be governed as a centralized state, eight sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

A group of Israeli-Druze civilians had crossed the border from Israel into Syria between Friday night to Saturday morning, KAN, Israel's public broadcaster, reported. The IDF said that actions are being taken to bring the group back into Israeli territory safely, KAN quoted them as saying.

Syrian security forces are preparing to redeploy to the Druze-majority Sweida city to quell fighting with Bedouin tribes, a Syrian interior ministry spokesperson said on Friday, further straining a fragile truce in Syria's south.

Israeli forces carried out a fresh strike in Syria two days after heavy attacks on Damascus, targeting the Ministry of Defence and near the presidential palace in Damascus. According to an Al-Jazeera report,
