A heat advisory was issued by the NWS Wakefield VA on Thursday at 2:59 a.m. valid between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. The advisory is for Western Currituck as well as Gates, Pasquotank, Camden, Chowan and Perquimans counties.

A heat advisory is in place across the Northeast, from Maryland to Maine, where residents are bracing for temperatures 5 to 15 degrees above average.

The advisory was active for Central Douglas County and Eastern Douglas County Foothills. "Temperatures will continue to lower tonight. Then, high temperatures tomorrow are expected to be slightly less hot compared to today," states the National Weather Service. Stay hydrated: Keep yourself well-hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
