AIMIM had won 5 seats in Bihar in the 2020 elections, giving a dent to the opposition alliance. However, four of its five MLAs later defected to the RJD.

The EC said that after two rounds of door-to-door visits, 88.18% or 6.6 crore electors have submitted their enumeration forms. 35 lakh names have been excluded.
