Following two days of early deficits that led to close gut-punch losses, the Royals responded Sunday afternoon with a commanding lead they needed every bit of in their 7-4 win over the Marlins in the series finale at loanDepot park.

Otto López hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning and the Miami Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals 3-1 on Saturday. Xavier Edwards tripled and doubled for the Marlins, who won their fourth straight and are 21-10 since June 13.

Back from the All-Star break, the right-hander delivered his most efficient outing of the season as the Marlins rallied late to beat the Royals 3-1.

Janson Junk has handled his transition from the Marlins' bullpen to their rotation with ease, limiting home runs and walks to a historic degree.

The Marlins will start Sandy Alcantara, who after missing 2024 has not had a good return in 2025. He’s got a 7.22 ERA (!) on top of a 4.59 FIP. Strikeouts are down, walks are up, homers are up...everything you don’t want as a pitcher. A glance at his game log doesn’t seem to reveal any trends. He’s just been bad the whole season.
