Democrats from the Texas Legislature met with Gov. Gavin Newsom in Sacramento to discuss President Trump's push to redistrict the Lone Star State and alter the outcome of the midterm elections.

Newsom told reporters the GOP's push to redraw congressional maps in Texas is a "five-alarm fire for democracy in the United States" and is doubling down on his threat to overhaul California's redistricting process.

After meetings with Democrats from the Texas House, Gavin Newsom and JB Pritzker suggested their states could counter a gerrymander by Texas Republicans.

Texas Republicans are working to redraw their state's congressional lines, potentially helping the GOP squeeze multiple House flips.

Friday for apparently being unaware that the Texas Legislature is currently in recess amid a special session. Having commenced on Monday, the special session was called by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to address flood warning systems following the deadly Central Texas flood earlier this
