A GameStop employee damaged a Nintendo Switch 2 with a stapler in June. Now that stapler and other "staplegate" items have sold on eBay for $250,000.

The $250,000 raised by the Staplegate Switch 2 auction will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which goes to fund local children’s hospitals, including life-saving procedures, research for cures and treatments, and family and patient financial assistance.

Console launches are chaotic endeavors, and the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch was exactly that, right up to surprise snacks appearing alongside some new Switches. Chaos was most prevalent, perhaps, at a GameStop in New York City (specifically Staten Island) where dozens of consoles were ruined by staples that pierced the screens.
