Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that the total number of persons considered missing after the Texas Hill Country flooding has fallen to two. On Saturday, it was revealed that the previous count of 97 had been reduced to three, after the remainder had been confirmed safe.

Texas lawmakers on Wednesday were set to begin reviewing the July 4 floods that killed at least 135 people, a disaster that put local officials under scrutiny over why residents along the Guadalupe River did not receive more warnings.
INGRAM, Texas — Kerr County is hosting an informational town hall for those impacted by the floods Tuesday night in Ingram. Officials say the meeting will be provide helpful information to residents. FEMA’s flood outreach specialist and the assistant national flood insurance program state coordinator will be there as well.
Texas lawmakers’ inaction on flood prevention often hits rural and economically disadvantaged communities the hardest, experts said.
The Legislature will look at proposals for emergency preparedness in a special session that was already planned over hemp laws. A bill to help build emergency systems failed in the spring.
