According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Red Sox and Yankees are both scouting Arizona Diamondbacks righties Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly in person during the current Arizona homestand.

Speaking of disappointing teams, the Rangers haven't bounced back to their 2023 championship form as hoped, and that could mean a soft pivot of sorts at the deadline. The emphasis, however, is on soft, as ESPN's Buster Olney reports :

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the Yankees are among the clubs that inquired with the Diamondbacks about a trade for third baseman Eugenio Suarez. However, less than two weeks out from the MLB trade deadline, Arizona is still “undecided” about moving its All-Star hitter.
