Two home break-ins happened just as the Encino, California, community gathered for a safety meeting after a double murder last week.

Police Chief Jim McDonnell and the Los Angeles Police Department are revealing their strategy “to prevent further incidents and restore peace of mind for the residents of Encino” following a string of July break-ins,

"Essentially, I haven't been feeling good for about a month, which was kind of shocking to me, and I think, mentally did a lot to me," Mellencamp said

Per the outlet, Teddi and her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, were reportedly home at the time and after the security system went off, they called authorities in regards to the attempted burglary. The suspects were already gone by the time authorities arrived on Monday night (July 21).

A grisly double murder and multiple residential burglaries, including at least one in which the family was in the house during the break in, have Encino residents on edge, fearing the worst and frustrated with law enforcement.
