The Trump administration is cutting the number of National Guard members in the Los Angeles area by 2,000 after their deployment last month in response to immigration protests, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.

Pentagon confirms that 2,000 California National Guard members are being withdrawn from the mission to protect federal buildings and personnel that followed ICE protests.

Gov. Gavin Newsom reacted after the Trump administration said it is ending the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles.

Texas and the Czech Republic have had a military relationship since 1993 as part of the National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program pairing states to train with countries around the world.

According to the report, China had access to a National Guard system for about nine months in 2024, from March through December. Authorities have not disclosed which state was affected. (Scripps News)
