The number of counties under Gov. Greg Abbott's disaster declaration for the deadly flooding in the Texas Hill Country has doubled since July 4, according to his past announcements.

Just like clockwork, all eyes are once again on the Texas Legislature, as a new bill to ban THC across the Lone Star State unanimously made it out of committee during the special session that began on Monday,

Gov. Greg Abbott vetoed the bill and put it on the special session agenda, saying he wants a narrower version.

The governor of Texas is detailing where he stands on a renewed push in the legislature to ban most consumable hemp products, seemingly departing from a proposal that advanced through a Senate committee this week by calling for regulated access to low-THC hemp items for adults.

Hemp backers are sounding off after a newly filed bill to ban THC in Texas has made its way out of committee and will head to the full Senate for a vote. Though the Legislature has 30 days from when the special session kicked off Monday,

"Texas is grateful for the outpouring of support," the governor said on Tuesday, as recovery efforts continue.

During a special session starting July 21, Texas lawmakers consider reforms that would put Texas on the leading edge of conservative governance and policy innovation.
